Greene County Board of Supervisors: Responsible for planning, developing and regulating growth, and for maintaining current county operations and services; appoints members to various Commissions and Committees. These groups provide direct or advisory support in numerous aspects of county government.
Greene County Planning Commission: Responsible for developing Capital Improvement Plans, Comprehensive Plan, and managing other planning matters.
Greene County Planning and Zoning Department: Responsible for the coordination of future growth in Greene County.
Greene County Parks and Recreation Department: Enriches the quality of life for all member of the community by offering leisure activities and special events through out the year in a fun and learning environment.
Greene County Erosion & Sediment Control: Housed within the Inspections Department; responsible for enforcing the Virginia Erosion and Sediment Control Law, which is supplemented by County Ordinance. The ordinance must be followed for all land disturbance activities in Greene County in order to manage stormwater and control soil erosion and sedimentation.
The Rivanna River Basin Commission provides guidance for the stewardship of water and natural resources of the Rivanna River Basin and promotes activities by local, state, and federal governments, and by individuals, that foster resource stewardship for the environmental and economic health of the Basin.
The Commission has representatives from these jurisdictions and organizations.
